Introduction
Making a difference is what we're all here for. We want to change the world so that things are, as that rather famous prayer says, 'on earth as in heaven'.

The thing is, it's not always very easy to spot the connection between going round with a collection tin during Christian Aid Week and the building of new schools in Uganda.

Interview with Angelina Atyam from northern Uganda Angelina Atyam is the chairperson of the Concerned Parents Association (CPA), a Christian Aid partner in northern Uganda. In 1996 her young teenage daughter, Charlotte, was kidnapped by the rebel group, the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). After eight years, Charlotte has only just been reunited with her mother. /11.04

Afghan women return to school Today, Afghanistan's new constitution guarantees equal rights to women - a far cry from the days of the Taliban, when women and girls were forbidden from attending school and a time that saw literacy among women fall to an estimated 21%. /11.04

Letter from Gaza Ahmed Sourani, 39, is director of public relations for the Gaza programme of the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee (PARC), a Christian Aid partner. Scheduled to come to London in October to help launch Christian Aid's new report on Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories - Facts on the Ground - he sent an email on 4 October, detailing how daily events in Gaza might prohibit these plans. /10.04

Aid is not enough in Gaza without real peace on the ground For Palestinians living in the overpopulated Gaza Strip - where the economy has been crippled by the military occupation, road closures and the constant threat of people's houses or farmlands being demolished - life is particularly hard. 'On a political level we seem to have lost hope and there have been no real changes on the ground', says Ahmed Sourani of Christian Aid partner PARC. /09.04

YWCA Palestine - finding ways around barriers Israel's separation barrier continues to cut West Bank Palestinian communities off from each other. Abla Nasir, General Secretary of the YWCA Palestine, a Christian Aid partner working in West Bank refugee camps, talks about the effect the barrier and the occupation have had on her life and her community. /09.04

EAPPI programme called a 'testament to peace' In an act of inter-religious unity, clergy from three different churches visited Jerusalem in August to see the work of Christian Aid partner, the EAPPI, and pronounced the programme 'a testament to peace'. /09.04
